Hong Kong

China · Visited: Layovers, mostly; one proper visit in 2024

Filed honestly: my Hong Kong is mostly Gate 23 at 3:40 am. The airport has hosted enough of my layovers that it qualifies as a place I have lived, cumulatively, for several days — all of them horizontal, using a backpack as a pillow.

The one proper visit (2024) established that the city deserves better than my transit-lounge relationship with it. A future entry will correct the record. The unresolved list grows.

Current holdings: one field guide to sleeping in airports, several photographs of empty gates, and an ongoing nod-based friendship with the night-shift floor polisher community.
